What's New?
I decided to add this section because I add to this website pretty frequently and if you've already come here before I don't want you to have to search for the new additions. So here goes!
1/1/2011 - Added the Holidays page, and announced that I'm no longer a teenager.
1/15/2011 - Added the Moving On page about going to college.
2/25/2011 - Went kind of overboard adding to the website, since it's been a while since I worked on it. I added three new pages - The Silver Lining, under Parents Divorced, Search the Website (that's right, you can use a search engine within the website now!), under More Information, and the as-of-yet uncategorized Perspectives page. I'll either leave it as its own separate tab, or I'll make it a subcategory for almost all the other categories. I also edited the Home page a bit and added a bit to the Regional Resources (specifically Ireland and South Africa).
3/05/2011 - Changed the presentation at the beginning - the original was a little hard to navigate.
3/20/2011 - Changed the presentation yet again! I'll make up my mind eventually. I also changed some pictures around. Right now, I'm mostly working on making the website more accessible - after all, how much would the articles matter if no one stayed on the website long enough to read them? But I'm working on some new articles, too...hopefully I'll be able to post them soon.
4/19/2011 - I wrote a new article for the Parents section today, about the role of the legal system in divorce. It examines the child's perspective of the court, and how it can be misused.
8/25/2011 - After a long break, I'm back! Today I made a new page about stepparents, which you can find under Parents Divorced. Currently it only covers the problems many teens experience with stepparents, but it will be expanded to include the whole stepfamily later.
9/03/2011 - Wrote a page about parents dating, along with one about what to expect and what not to expect in your own romantic relationships.
10/02/2011 - Made an SOS page after reading about risks of abuse, depression, and suicide after divorce. I also added more advice to the parents section.
10/06/2011 - Created a Divorce 101 page explaining the basics of the steps of the divorce process.
12/03/2011 - Wrote two articles for parents about how to break the news of divorce to your children, and how to stay in touch with your children after the divorce. I've noticed I tend to write articles when I have post-divorce drama in my own family, so the fact I've gone two months without writing is a good sign. :)
12/11/2011 - Added to The Law and Divorce and updated My Divorce Story.
08/29/2012 - There's a new resource in the Regional Resources section because the website's been translated into Lithuanian! A while back I heard from a specialist in the Lithuanian State Child Rights Protection and Adoption Service asking if they could translate my website, and they just finished it. I wish all countries would give as much attention to this problem as they have! It's a really great website (I used Google Translate to read it) and well-designed. If, for some reason, you happen to read Lithuanian you can check out the website here: http://www.pagalbavaikams.lt/pagalba/skyrybos/informacija-man/patarimai.
10/19/2012 - School has been really busy this last year, so I'm afraid I haven't updated as frequently as I used to. In addition, as I mentioned before, I write more frequently when there are problems in my own family (problems I can write about without making anyone look too bad, that is), so the fact that I haven't been writing that much is a good sign. My mother got remarried this summer, one of the best post-divorce experiences I've had so far, and in response to that I tweaked My Divorce Story and some things in the parents section. I also added some more to My Divorce Story in the Unhappy Family section.
10/25/2012 - Updated the article about The Website.
11/17/2012 - Added the article Unrealistic Expectations, pretty much spell checked the whole website for the thousandth time (and STILL found typos!), changed the layout of the Parents Divorced main page, and changed the design of the entire website. I like it so much - hope you do, too!
4/13/2013 - Okay, so the lack of updates in this log this time around isn't so much indicative of a lack of activity as it is an indicator of my forgetting to put the things I'm doing in this log. I've added a lot of articles to the Parents section, including one with advice about how parents should break the news to their children. I'm also working on making a handbook parents can give their kids when they tell them about the divorce; it's still a work in progress, but it's definitely progressing well. Finally, I added a survey to the website today so visitors can give feedback about the website and help me improve it - I'd definitely recommend checking it out!
4/15/2013 - Added more resources to the SOS page, including links to IM sessions and a hotline specific to Canada.
5/23/2013 - Fixed some formatting issues and added the Divorce Handbook, a guide for parents to print out and give their children which I just wrote, to the Parent's section under Breaking the News.
